Antero Orlando Pereira Ávila was born in Pico Island in Azores - Portugal in 1973.
His first contacts with music took place at a local wind band with the age of 5.
He studied Clarinet and Euphonium.
At the age of 14 was the Maestro of S. Roque Philharmonic.
In that period he arranged several pieces from classical to pop for wind band.
At the age of 16 left his home and went to Terceira Island to study in the Conservatory of Music.
There he studied Piano, Violin, Classical Guitar Chant History of Music and Composition.
Four years later went to Lisbon to the National Conservatory of Music. There he studied Composition with Alvaro Salazar and Jorge Peixinho.
Later in the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa completed Composition with Carlos Caíres, Sérgio Azevedo, Christopher Bochmann, Eurico Carrapatoso, António Sousa Dias, Etc.
He returned to Azores, as it was always his wish, where he works at Angra do Heroísmo Conservatory of Music teaching Composition and Acoustics.
Lately he plays in several music groups:
Principal Tuba in Banda Lira Açoreana.
Tuba in Filarmónica da Fonte do Bastardo
Tuba in Big Band AngraJazz
Maestro of Filarmónica União Praiense.
Now he divides his work in teaching, composing, and performing.
